Robiola di Roccaverano: the taste of solidarity

“Robin” the robin, will be the ambassador of the delicious Piedmontese cheese specialties that has just distinguished itself for a commendable gesture.

Few words, so much hope! This is the concept that accompanies the decision of the Consortium for the Protection of Robiola di Roccaverano DOP to donate 300 Robiole to the Hospital “Mons. Galliano” of Acqui Terme and the rest houses of the territory. The hospital unit with its staff is on the front line to counter the advance of Coronavirus/Covid-19.

It is a gesture of solidarity whose indication has absolute priority and which honors the producers of the appreciated Piedmontese dairy products that recently revived its communication with a certain pleasant combination, as well as curious: the one between the robin, an adorable feather colorful melodious singing, and a dairy product just as attractive and delicious as the Robiola di Roccaverano DOP.

A combination that is much happier thanks to the adoption of the term “Robin” as the English call the robin.

Related to his figure are stories and legends, poetic verses, and popular sayings. A symbol of resistance in the colder months, its origins lie in the distant mythology, passing through Jesus Christ and arriving at the notes of Chopin. Elegance and harmony, but also strength and determination, tenacity, and recklessness.

Robin is now the symbol of “Rob-In” or “Robiola and surroundings” the new project of promotion of products and territory with the lead of the Consortium of Protection of Robiola di Roccaverano DOP. An initiative that smells of positivity at a time when the daily serenity seems to vanish due to a viral offensive that has affected the whole world.

The territory that jealously guards the tradition and roots of this extraordinary dairy includes nine municipalities: Bubbio, Cartosio, Cossano Belbo, Loazzolo, Monastero Bormida, Rivalta Bormida, Roccaverano, San Marzano Oliveto, and Vesime. The locality of the Provinces of Asti, Alessandria, and Cuneo, six of which are included in the production disciplinary of Robiola di Roccaverano DOP and three in which are located the companies producing other tasty local specialties that take part in the project.

The promoters of the project

“Rob-In” in fact includes 15 companies: 12 members and 3 partners in ATS. 

These are farms, wine, and tourist accommodation specialized in the production of Robiola di Roccaverano DOP, wine, Turin vermouth, cold cuts, cereals, chickpeas, hazelnuts, honey, saffron, and desserts. All products stand out for their short production chain as well as for their high quality and territoriality. The Project “Rob-In” will be spread over 24 months.

From the beginning of its activity will have the aim of promoting land that largely coincides with the territory of the “Unione Montana Langa Astigiana Val Bormida” and the “Langa Astigiana between Monferrato, Ligurian Apennines and the Alps”, a very vast area but morphologically and from the point of view of landscape very similar and united and with a high agricultural vocation.


Territory and its ancient inimitable flavors

The promotion, in addition to the Robiola di Roccaverano DOP, will be operational for a series of products of local companies, products with quality schemes DOP, DOCG, IGP, and Biologic, thus expanding the range offered on-site to tourists and residents.

All the products belonging to the basket of the Robin will be available in Roccaverano at the Hotel del Bramante and will be promoted with initiatives of strong impact on consumers including the activation of a dynamic Qr Code positioned in trekking routes, in the cycle paths, in the hot areas of the municipalities of the companies: market squares, municipal offices, etc.

There is also a website (www.rob-in.it) with precise information on taste paths, companies, products, photographic and audiovisual material. And in particular on the events scheduled including tastings at the School of Roccaverano, at the companies, and the Bramante.

Thanks to this challenging project the promoters intend to contribute to the best welfare of the local population and the development of the territory. Especially to reduce the fragmentation of the tourist offer thanks to the creation of appropriate synergies aimed at offering a precise identity image of the territory to the advantage of a tourist incoming both Italian and foreign constantly increasing.
